105kW, York, Golf Course

Solar PV ground mount installation at a Golf Club & Spa, utilising a low profile ballast solution.

What was achieved

Westwood Energy installed 105.60kW of PV utilising Sunfixings Light Tegra mounting solution to achieve an aesthetically pleasing installation that bore no visual impact on the golf course and it’s long reaching views from both the course and the club house terrace.

Utilising what is traditionally a flat roofing system, we were able to create an array that was no higher than 350mm above ground, allowing screening from surrounding reeds, hedgerows and trees to be effective. Using SolarEdge’s enhanced capabilities for “overdriving”, we were able to mitigate a DNO restriction on AC connected capacity (66kW) and still install a viable 105kW array.

The numbers…

75.8MWh pa generated.

81% consumed on-site.

27% of import demand off-set

£21,200.00 pa saved.

Final Outcome

From the client

We are very happy with the job Westwood Energy made installing our PV system at The Oaks Golf Club and Spa.

Westwood put together a design report based around our energy demands and guided us on the best possible solution, potential savings and ROI.

We really liked that Westwood Energy deploy optimisers as part of their solution. This has made the array more efficient and productive, especially with nearby tree shading. With us not having sufficient roof space for the panels, we appreciated that Westwood Energy could offer low lying ballasted ground mounted panels. This was particularly important near a golf course, the array almost completely out of sight.

From the initial design, grid & planning applications to the installation and commissioning of the solar panels, Westwood were great to work with and produced a high-quality job. We would highly recommend them to anybody considering a solar installation at their business.
